What we’re doing

Sensing is becoming more and more important, as we seek to collect more data to inform decisions about pollution, climate change, biodiversity, and a range of other topics. Professional scientists, citizen scientists, and educators, all have an interest in building sensor networks to collect data robustly, present and analyse it, and share it with the wider global community.

Building a functioning, scientifically dependable sensor network is a difficult task. Citizen Sensing is a blog and technology project aimed at providing a ready-made toolset based on cheap and easy-to-find hardware and software components. We want to bridge the gap between computer science, hobbyist electronics, and experimental science.

At present Citizen Sensing is in set-up phase, developing ideas and conducting a first experimental project to validate them. We’ll welcome your collaboration and suggestions for how we proceed.
